The kick – off meeting of the collaboration between Nuclear Physics Institute of the CAS (NPI), European Spallation Source (ESS) and the company NUVIA, a.s. for the delivery of three technological systems for ESS ERIC, Lund, Scandinavia took place in Prague on 25 January 2017 on the premises of NUVIA´s offices.

NPI, based on the result of a public procurement process, concluded a contract for work with the company NUVIA, a.s. on the delivery of technology described in Target In-Kind (TIKs) contracts for the ESS Target station at the end of 2016.

This in – kind delivery will provide ESS in Lund with three technology systems – the primary water cooling systems and the secondary water cooling systems of the ESS tungsten target, plus the target station building heating and ventilation system.

The value of the three contracts reaches almost 350 mil. CZK and works are to be delivered by end of 2019.

The kick-off meeting showed a high level of understanding between NPI, ESS and NUVIA, a.s. on the needs for the successful and timely completion of this large project.

All three investments are made possible under a project of NPI, awarded from structural funds Operational programme research, development and education (MEYS). This endeavor is to be considered as part of the Czech Republic contribution to the construction of ESS ERIC.
